It gives me immense pleasure to extend my cordial invitation to you for the 5th International Festival on Yog, Culture and Spirituality, being organized between 1st and 6th October 2015 at the Dev Sanskriti University (DSVV), Shantikunj, Haridwar, Himalayas, India.
Yoga refers to the unification of the inner-self with the supreme divine consciousness and the ultimate aim of all yogic disciplines is the spiritual refinement. Spirituality is a deeper science based on the selfrealization and transformation of the thoughts through intrinsically established and verified principles. Though its principal focus lies in the domains of the cosmic consciousness and deeper cores of human psyche, it is as scientific in its methods as any other branch of the modern science. In spite of the advancement of technology in this age, the spiritual disciplines are not being subjected to the rigorous scientific investigations, which often make skeptics question the success of yogic principles.
With a vision of establishing the scientific basis of the yogic disciplines and spirituality, the foundation of the Dev Sanskriti University was laid in the early 2002 and its core principles are interwoven in the teachings of the great saint of modern era, Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya Ji. In its short but resolute journey, this University has emerged as the frontrunner of the scientific researches on Yoga, Ayurveda, Psychology, Human Consciousness and Spirituality. Along with excellence in the academic forums, one of the major areas of focus for the University is the promotion of the inter-cultural understanding among students. While Yoga and Ayurveda stand as the core modules, prayer, meditation and understanding of other spiritual practices form an integral and vital part of the University's curriculum.
These efforts have been widely appreciated and the University has an established global presence in the field of the Yoga, Vedic Sciences, Indology and the allied subjects. We have also signed agreements with the eminent academic institutions in the USA, UK, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Russia, China, Indonesia, Greece, Denmark, Argentina and Iran. This festival is another step in the direction of sharing the wealth of information and propagation of the knowledge obtained by us in our unique and historic expedition so far.
hope this Festival will provide a platform for the meaningful exchange of opinions on the various challenging issues faced by the modern world. There will also be a great opportunity for you to participate in the grand Vijayadashmi Celebrations, which will take place in Haridwar at the end of the Festival. It is celebrated on the tenth day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu autumn month of Ashwin, and is the grand culmination of the 9 day annual Navaratri Festival.
With best wishes for your social and spiritual well-being.
